We started as a small hobby farm a few years back, raising ducks, chickens and quails. Through the years, our friends asked if we were selling eggs. We hadn't even thought of it, actually. We didn't have a substantial sized flock, and therefore, really hadn't considered it.
We've added more chickens, a couple of geese, and our own hatchlings are now adults. Egg production grew to the point where we had more eggs than we needed. AHA! Time to start selling extras. It's still a hobby farm, and we don't get dozens of eggs daily, so sales aren't in large quantities... especially in winter.
This summer, we plan on getting back in to adding to the flock, and incubating our fertile eggs. Who knows where this will lead us.
